One of my favorite flowers is the Zantedeschia commonly known in Italy as Calla. Very common in the gardens of the old houses of my island, Sardinia (Italy), is a flower that retains the charm of simplicity and elegance.Zantedeschia are relatively hardy plants and may be considered two groups: a group with large white flowers (arum lilies) and a group with white-spotted leaves and flowers in many colours (calla lilies), such as yellow, orange, pink and purple.Zantedeschia has often been used in paintings it was a favourite subject of the painter Georgia O’Keeffe.Photo © Daniela Serra 2016 – All Rights Reserved

Anemone coronaria is widely grown for its decorative flowers. Numerous cultivars have been selected and named, the most popular including the De Caen and St Brigid groups of cultivars. Santorini : The Churches.     .     . Santorini’s churches are defined by anonymous vernacular architecture . The island has over 600 churches and chapels. These are simple, square edifices, mostly done in a sparse white. Without any particular ornamentation. Churches forman integral part of the island architecture with different typologies and influences evident. The churches and the chapels of Oia are white and blue domed in general . Pisa (Italy), Piazza dei Miracoli

The Piazza dei Miracoli or Piazza of Miracles is a walled 8.87-hectare area located in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, recognized as an important center of European medieval art and one of the finest architectural complexes in the world.

The square is dominated by four great religious edifices: the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry, the Leaning Tower ( the Bell Tower), and the Camposanto Monumentale (Monumental Cemetery) founded in 1277 by Giovanni di Simone.

The name “Piazza dei Miracoli” was coined by the Italian writer and poet Gabriele d’Annunzio who, in his novel “Forse che sì forse che no” (1910), described the square as the “prato dei Miracoli,” or “meadow of miracles”.

In 1987, the whole square was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ….. ….. …

In many towns in Sardinia (Italy)  there is a vast amount of street art, true open-air masterpieces gifted to us by the talents of the artists, some famous, some completely unknown.In these towns the walls serve as a collective memory for the community, expressing the personality and character of the people.This street art is photographed in San Sperate, near Cagliari, the most important city of Sardinia (Italy).
