Black flowers

There are flowers that have the color of the night … as this pansy  but also cosmos, dahlias, hellebores, lilys, tulips… Black flowers are mysterious and elegant. In reality there are no truly black flowers – most are very dark shades of purple or red.  They symbolise power, mystery, elegance, farewell and goodbye.    .    Photo © Daniela Serra – All Rights Reserved

colors of autumn

<Arbutus Unedo , (Corbezzolo)Arbutus unedo (strawberry tree) is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the family Ericaceae, native to the Mediterranean region and western Europe north to western France and Ireland . The plant is very common in Sardinia, where I live. The fruit is a red berry, 1–2 cm diameter, with a rough surface. It matures in about 12 months, in autumn, at the same time as the next flowering. It is edible; the fruit is sweet when reddish, and tastes similar to a fig.Sorce : Wikipedia

Violets

In the language of flowers, it has had various symbolic meanings. Its color may indicate the love of truth or, conversely, the truth of love. In keeping with the latter, it is said that the tomb of the Roman tyrant Nero was decorated in the spring with violets by unknown persons who had secretly admired or loved him. Violets were often used as symbols of fasting or mourning. Source : http://www.americanvioletsociety.org/HistoryTraditions/Traditions.htmPhoto © Daniela Serra 2016 – All Rights Reserved

Sardinia (Italy). Asinara island.

Situated in the territory of the Porto Torres municipality (SS), the Asinara island is one of the most spectacular islands on the Mediterranean as it has kept its naturalistic charm unaltered over the years. Its long history as a penal colony, in fact, ensured that the number of visitors was kept to a minimum, therefore preserving its natural environment. It has been a national park since 1997 and one of the best destination for short cruises along its coast.Source : http://www.sardegnaturismo.it/en/point-of-interest/asinara-0Photo © Daniela Serra 2016 – All Rights Reserved
