Santorini is famous for the much photographed blue domed and colorful churches that can be seen in the entire island. Oia village. Santorini (Greece).        The village is approximately 150 meters above sea level. Oia was severely damaged in the 1956 earthquake and much work has been involved to implement its restoration.The natural beauty of Oia village in combination with its traditional architecture which consists of white washed houses, old mansions , narrow streets and blue domed churches, make this village unique thus extremely popular to the visitors.   .         .              .              . Photo © Daniela Serra – All Rights Reserved

Jacaranda is a genus of 49 species of flowering plants in the family Bignoniaceae, native to tropical and subtropical regions of Central America, South America, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and the Bahamas.Several species are widely grown as ornamental plants throughout the subtropical regions of the world, valued for their intense flower displays.In my city, Cagliari (Italy), there are many examples of this remarkable plant . Santorini : The Churches.     .     . Santorini’s churches are defined by anonymous vernacular architecture . The island has over 600 churches and chapels. These are simple, square edifices, mostly done in a sparse white. Without any particular ornamentation. Churches forman integral part of the island architecture with different typologies and influences evident. The churches and the chapels of Oia are white and blue domed in general . Pisa (Italy), Piazza dei Miracoli

The Piazza dei Miracoli or Piazza of Miracles is a walled 8.87-hectare area located in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, recognized as an important center of European medieval art and one of the finest architectural complexes in the world.

The square is dominated by four great religious edifices: the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry, the Leaning Tower ( the Bell Tower), and the Camposanto Monumentale (Monumental Cemetery) founded in 1277 by Giovanni di Simone.

The name “Piazza dei Miracoli” was coined by the Italian writer and poet Gabriele d’Annunzio who, in his novel “Forse che sì forse che no” (1910), described the square as the “prato dei Miracoli,” or “meadow of miracles”.

In 1987, the whole square was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ….. ….. …
