Archaeological Sardinia (Italy)

sardart's avatarSite Title

Sardinia’s Nuraghic monuments, dolmen, menhir, domus de janas, giants’ tombs, all striking testimonials to an ancient megalithic culture, are believed to be surrounded by strong magnetic energy which influences and improves the wellbeing of body and soul. Even Aristotle reported that in Sardinia lying close to a Tomb of the Giants was a way to get rid of nightmares and obsessions. The necropolis of Sant’Andrea Priu is an archaeological site located on the south side of the fertile plain of Saint Lucia, in the municipality of Bonorva, Sardinia. The complex, one of the most important of the island, is composed of twenty domus de janas; one of them with its eighteen rooms appears to be one of the largest hypogean tombs of the Mediterranean basin. Chronologically, the complex is dated 3500–2900 BC. In the necropolis lies this Dolmen very particular form of bull ..http://www.sardegnaturismo.it/en/article/stones-and-water–ancient-sources-wellnessPhoto © Daniela Serra 2016 – All…

Lions of Italy

I follow the story of Adrian Balan on “Lions of Italy” and offer my lion …..Cagliari Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. The church was built in the 13th century in Pisan-Romanesque style. In the 17th and 18th centuries it was renovated along Baroque lines. In the interior, the main attraction is the ambo of Guglielmo, a 12th-century pair of pulpits by one Master Guglielmo, originally sculpted for the cathedral of Pisa. It was taken to Cagliari in 1312 and placed in the nave, near to its third column. In 1669 it was split in two, and the two pulpits placed in their current locations. The four marble lions which supported the ambo are now located at the feet of the presbytery balustrade. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cagliari_CathedralPhoto © Daniela Serra 2016 – All Rights Reserved

It is widely cultivated, both as an ornamental plant and as a medicinal plant. All its parts are edible. The flower has most often been consumed, making for an especially ornamental salad ingredient..This is my terrace … I do not eat them, I like to watch them!Photo © Daniela Serra 2016 – All Rights Reserved

Black flowers

There are flowers that have the color of the night … as this pansy  but also cosmos, dahlias, hellebores, lilys, tulips… Black flowers are mysterious and elegant. In reality there are no truly black flowers – most are very dark shades of purple or red.  They symbolise power, mystery, elegance, farewell and goodbye.    .    Photo © Daniela Serra – All Rights Reserved
