Water lilies

“I must have flowers, always, and always.” (Claude Monet ) . . .. The French Impressionist painter Claude Monet is known for his many paintings of water lilies in the pond in his garden at Giverny.Extraordinary the water lilies cycle that is in the Orangerie Museum in Paris. Offered to the French State by the painter Claude Monet on the day that followed the Armistice of November 11, 1918 as a symbol for peace, the Water Lilies are installed according to plan at the Orangerie Museum in 1927, a few months after his death. The set is one of the largest monumental achievements of early twentieth century painting.

The festival of Sant’Efisio takes place every year on 1st May and is a magical celebration of faith and folklore, the sacred and the profane. A festival rich in colours, costumes, tradition ; the long procession: 3500 inhabitants of the island dressed in traditional costumes from every town and village and more than 200 riders on horseback.On the day of the festival people from all over the island gather together in Cagliari to take part in the procession.
