Fontana Dei Libri, Rome

Rome has fifty monumental fountains and hundreds of smaller fountains, over 2000 fountains in all, more than any city in the world. The Fontana dei Libri, in travertine, was planned by Pietro Lombardi in 1927 for the quarter of Sant’Eustachio. That is why the district symbol of a deer’s head appears in the niche surrounded by four antique books, probably recalling the nearby Sapienza University.  Taken in Rome this year #adriano detail
