Perseus Of Cellini

Among the statues present today in the Loggia della Signoria or dei Lanzi, the Perseus of Cellini is probably the most important and extraordinary work, from the artistic and technical point of view. Benvenuto Cellini, artist from Florence, began work on the opera in 1545 and its realization will keep him busy for about nine years. The sculpture represents Perseus standing on Medusa’s body, just decapitated by the contested sword in his right hand, while the left raises triumphant the monster head held by the hair. #adriano  Taken in Florence in black and white #HeavyHDR
